Doom 3 BFG Edition is not only an HD remake, but also a nice collection of all Doom games. The addition to Doom 3 and Doom 3: Resurrection of evil has improved graphics (improved textures, with larger suzzes) giving the aging game a somewhat modern look. Besides, it includes the introduction of a brand-new chapter "The lost mission", and also has some gameplay improvements.
Doom 3 BFG edition arrives 4 years after the launch of Doom 3. At its launch date, the graphics were astounding and only high-end machines with even higher-end graphics cards were able to run it decently. But time has passed, and Doom 3 has aged too, compared to modern titles like Asassin's Creed 3 and Mass Effect 3. To counter this, Bethesda Softworks (developers of the game) introduced high-resolution textures, improved dynamic shadows and DTS 5.1 sound.
Buyers of this version will also get the new chapter "The lost mission" featuring new enemies, and 4 new levels full of action, some of which resemble the fights against the monsters in Doom I and Doom II.
Among the gameplay improvements, the most noteworthy is the inclusion of a shoulder-mounted flashlight, which will allow you to illuminate and shoot at the same time, eliminating the need to switch from the flashlight to a weapon first. This previous aspect was intended to get the player deeper into the dark atmosphere of the game, but was ultimately heavy criticized. more
